WEEK 1 @ St John's
PRACTICE TEACING AT ST JOHNS MODEL HSS
After completing 2 semesters at college, we stepped into the next phase of our B.Ed life that is practice teaching. The school that I was allotted was St John's Model HSS , Nalanchira. We were a team of 16 from different optionals.I got the class 9 B and my concerned teacher there was Sajini tr.
The HM of the school Bijo Geevarghese sir and all other teachers gave us a warm welcome. Being the first time in the role of a teacher I was quite nervous about how things will turn out. However the positive vibe of our team made it easier.
HM briefed us the various duties and activities that we are supposed to carry out in the school. According to that we started doing our duties from the second day onwards.
Sajini tr introduced me to 9b. My class had majority of male students. I found them like any other teenagers a bit restless and talkative. It was difficult for me to manage the class during the first week. My teacher Mrs.Meakha ma'am came for my class observation. Dr Ancy ma'am also came for my class observation.
5/10/23 - 13/10/23 -
During this first week I began with the chapter 'The Jungle Aircrash' by Juliane Koepcke in my class. I began the class by showing the video of a plane crash. Through that the chapter was introduced. The students in my class was a bit talkative at the begining and so I struggled with class management in the first week. During the course of this 6 days I got several substitutions in my own class. Therefore I was able to complete the first chapter during the first week. Activities and notes of the chapter was given to the students. I had an observation by my optional teacher on 11th October however I was not satisified with my performance.
